Everyday Olympics

This task involved me to look at everyday tasks such as: hair brushing, cooking, gardening, ironing and so on within the house, in order to create my own everyday Olympics game. I looked at activities which contained the uses of objects and spaces within the house. Researching into the London Olympics area (Stratford) I visited the area looking into stores in Westfield shopping center (Stratford), at which have links to household activities; interior spaces and the designs food courts. Then I went around Stratford looking at the different architectures and the location around the Olympics area. I found the on-sight visit a really beneficial experience, for me to look around the area which hosted the London Olympics games; with its buildings and the location as a whole.

My primary research made me think of all the different architectures around the Olympics area and wonder why they have designed in that specific way. For my everyday activity that could be turned into an Olympic activity I chose gardening. The feedback that I received from my tutor was to look at the different activities that evolve around the garden like planting, mowing and topiary; this then helped me think of how interior and exterior space could look like and also how the activities could take place; as well as the designing too. I have learnt that visiting the site of which my activity is going to take place really beneficial, which has helped me to analyse the area and to be able to image and place my design in my set location.

I believe that my gardening activity layout was successful along with the whole structure of my maquette with its detail to natural sunlight including the exterior space plan with its relaxing seating area, led lighting and hedge maze. Overall my activity looks clear with its interior and exterior design. The part I found challenging was trying to glue together the cardboard together this was because it was a thin piece of cardboard.

Workshop- day 6- (poetry and calligraphy)

I really enjoyed this project especially using ink with a paint brush to create marks, at first I made different marks using a flat headed paint brush looking into different lines, strokes and wave lines. Then I wrote the alphabet again using different strokes each time, and then I used a quote to write it out using ink.

Workshop- day 5- (physcial type layout)

Using words I constructed them into a given space to covey the words actual meanings. After the warm up playing around with different words, I then started making initial CD cover designs to produce a final cover.

Manifesto

I designed a personal manifesto based on my experiences and aspirations, I looked at using different layouts and materials, which I enjoyed creating using different words, colours and designs. I carried out research into the past manifestos for referencing.  I like the lines that I created on the background of the paper and on the text, I also hand wrote some of the text as well. I've also used different coloured blocks to add colour to my manifesto design.

Graphics- Day 3

Present: My future self

Hole punching

 Lines
 Patterns

Mixing
 Light box

I'm really happy with the final outcome of my canvas exhibition poster, I liked the process through the start to the finish I believe I have learnt and experimented in different areas such as type, collage and so on. This task has allowed me to develop on my typography skills. I didn't find any of the tasks challenging but more experimental and new.

Overall of the exploratory stage I have looked into different areas of the art and design fields such as graphics, lens based media, fashion and textiles and 3DD I enjoyed each and every tasks. I've used programs such as indesign and illustrator that I've never used before and found it easy to adapt to. Every design field has given me new experiences and a taste of the design area. On top of that its my first time using blogger and blogging about my work which that was fun and interesting to write about my work every week and to also use blogger as well.
