Abstract

I was given a set of words: abstract, conceptual, modernism, minimalism and digital after collecting images for all of the concepts. I chose abstract and modernism as my most favorite with their images and detail in their own area. The reason why I chose abstract was because I like the freedom it has with its colour palette, shapes its curves and so on; I liked modernism because of its attention to lines and how it also reminds me as if its not yet complete and the skeletons of the structure are showing. then after more research I decided to look just into abstract more, just because I believe that abstract has also got elements within its own field. Using Abstract word as my starting point I need to design something, so I then began thinking about designing for the community and from there I became interested in Pavilions ( Serpentine Gallery Pavilions). I believe my research inspired me to experiment with my ideas within my sketches and I thought this was successful, because from there on I created maquettes that allowed me to play around with different materials; and to explore what works with what and how I could develop my ideas from there on. My peers were interested in my experimentation maquettes and my final design as well. I found that exploring with hands on material is more beneficial in letting me explore with materials that work with each other and designs too.
