3DDesign- Day1

Turning lines into products and plans

Plan of a house (garden, 2 bedrooms, kitchen,                                                                                             bathroom, living room and hallway) and a curved
Favorite fruit with rabbits                                            line turned into a chair with two people and a cat

Using the pattern of my shoe to design
a jewelry and using 2 horizontal lines                           Using a circle, triangle and square to draw a car
one vertical and 1 parallel line to sketch                      drawing two bean shapes then drawing it into
 a shopping mall                                                          a shoe

Drawing a human figure then changing it into my favorite
animal and then drawing two shapes to make it into an
                                          mp3 player from the future

House door number turned into a kettle and favorite
clothing turned into a table lamp

This first task was interesting in looking a ways people could get inspiration from to create their artwork/product.

Making a structure that will hold a water bottle

Reflections

Empty thermos flask                                                Full water bottle
Using a given set of papers I made a structure that will hold a full water bottle. To construct this shape I scrunched paper into a ball shape and placed it inside the structure to hold up the water bottle, I then worked around that to come to a final structure. I also designed my water bottle holder by creating lines at the top using a marker. I then took photographs using a table light which was flexible in creating different forms that I adjusted to scale up the actual structure making shadows on to the white background.

The part I found challenging with this task was to work with a set number of papers, only using tape length from my wrist to my elbow, and to lift it off the table by 20cm; because then I had to plan carefully about the whole design and how it would be put together. Instead of making the top ‘U’ shaped I could have used each sides of the structure to lift it more from the table.

Final view after testing
With this task I worked as a pair, first I thought of a structure that can hold the both of us, the the shape/design and finally how we would put it together. From the overall task I learned how to share out the responsibilities between each other in order to complete the task together

Assembling the chair took less than a minute, to fold and unfold to its original chair form took 1 second. the design of the chair was inspired by waves, forms and lines. I believe that the whole structure was a definite success regarding its constructing and pulling it back to its original form. The feedback we got was good from the staff and students. I believe that the chair's structure we made was unique with its shape and assembling of it. The only part that I'm not happy with my work was that sometimes the slotting of the cardboard's we're detaching from each other.
